The Kleptomania

Thursday, May 4, 2017

I started knitting again.

I’t seem I have found pleasure in monotonous work.

Gradually I have become quite go for it.

Two times front, one behind, two times front, one behind.

My fingers do the work for me.

Two times front, one behind.

I knit and knit.

The hours fly by and I levitate with them.

I never knitted with wool like the common kitter. My wool is not shaggy and doesn’t scratch my cheek.

Even though I am pretty new in the field of knitting, I knit with thoughts.

The thoughts are merged into one another and create this perfect third.

Two times front, one behind.

They create an invisible blanket that I warm myself under.

The blanket has a few holes, some irregularities and even some loose ends here and there.

But I made it myself.!

And if I do say so myself, It actually looks  quite nice.

As I sit there and let your fingers glide through the fine material: two times front, one behind, two times front, behind. I discover a piece of blanket is missing.

It was stolen from me.

I immediately get more thoughts out.

Suddenly more and more of the blanket starts to  disappear. Bit by bit.

The sweat coming from behind.

Two times front, one behind,

I knit faster.

Two times front, one behind.

I try to bring more thoughts out, but soon there are no more of the good ones left.

So thoughts about him, slipping into the pattern.

And wupti! Just as suddenly as he becomes a part of the pattern, it disappears.

Faster and faster I knit now!

Two times front, one behind, two times front of a rear!

Sweat rushes forward and my fingers are cramping.

I panic! All of my work!

All the good thought in my blanket!

Haps!

And the last bite was taken.

With sore fingers, empty of any good thoughts, I sit back, disappointed.

Saddened and Deprived of my own thoughts.

Then I remember that I probably used some of the thoughts about him in my blanket.

You see,

I’ve got a new friend.

The Celptomania is his name.

It’s probably him!

He’s a predator for my thoughts.

But there’s no other way.

So I short the thoughts I have left, although they not all good.

And start over.

But this time with a different tactic.

Because I’m smarter than him!

Just wait! I think to my self and start my new blanket with this thought.

Atlantis is Wobo

Trash of the Titans

As children we were told fairy tales when adults wanted us to stop crying. Stories of kidnapping, the black death and drug use sometimes disguised in jolly rhymes, melodies and childish fantasies. They have taught us not to look in the room meant to be kept shut, in other words; be obedient otherwise face terrible/fantastical consequences.

Not always, this kind tales –sometimes happy– about far away lands, keep us amused in a world so “understood” and “real”.
Walter van Beirendonck uses this element in many of his clothing articles. Connecting both worlds of childish imagination and colors with the really real world of grown-ups.

And it can really get

real.

It looks like van Beirendonck is busy writing his own fairy tales with every show. Each representing a different space and feeling.
He has even created a character to better express himself with.

 A quote;

MISSION OF MONTH: AS THE SNAPPIEST DORKIAN KNOWN, CHOSEN ALIEN OF THE W.& L.T.HOOD AND EARTHLING-MAGNET – PUK PUK’S MISSION IS TO TRANSEND THE W.& L.T. AUTUMN VIBES TO THE EARTH ALIENS.

 KKKWWW PUK PUK

 * NOT LITERALLY – EARTHLINGS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM THIS TRANSITION UNTIL THE YEAR 2497 AND THE GOLDFISH POPULATION WILL BE THE FIRST TO WORK OUT HOW

That’s an actual quote from Walter’s website; http://www.walt.de.
The Character is Puk Puk, who comes from planet Dork. Tells it how it is and is inspired by the people of Papua New Guinea.
They even kinda look like Puk Puk if you squint your eyes a bit.

What I also like about van Beirendonck besides his difficult name, is that he seems to live in his own world. As do many of us. Actually, we all live in our own little imagination, it’s only our relation to others that makes it seem and feel so shared. Perception in our civilized society is very important.

If you were at a party with 30 people, chances are 7 might be schizophrenic. Today we don’t get burned at the stake or get shock treatments and lobotomies
(our memories of them nothing more than Ramones lyrics and Jeffrey Dahmer victims). You do however get shunned from being “normal”.
Bah, who the fuck wants to be normal anyway?
Furthermore who’s to say what normal is?
(If we’re talking about mathematical norms, then sure a norm is the recurring number, but the idea that this recurring number is the best,
what’s that about?)
Some cultures modify their bodies as a form of beauty, while other cultures frighten themselves with stories of malformed humans who are either savages or uncivilized.

O brave new world that has such people in it.

I am a storyteller and it is my way of thinking and presenting in a total way.”

There’s always something in old books that attracts me. I think it is the way that an old book already can tell you a story without even open it. There is a history going on in that book, many hands touched it, carried it, let them tears drop on the pages, all of that and the leather cover with the gold embellished patterns and the painted flowers on the sides are telling me that this book was special, actually Albert Magnus, a main Dutch bookbinder, gave this book  to his bride for their wedding in 1664. I’m curious what will be inside, but I cannot reach it because of the thick glass that’s protecting it from the world outside. Maybe I don’t want to open it, because now I can dream of beautiful  bedtime stories and fairytales that can be in the book. I can already see the big curled detailed first letter that asks you to take some time to read the lines without putting the book aside for a while.  Well, in this century grooms usually don’t give their brides gifts like this, so for now I can only dream of living in the century when they did…

Hedgehog In The Fog

Thursday, April 2, 2009

I tried to find some relation from illustration to art, but the problem was that i couldn’t find any book that i need. I was thinking about Carl Larsson, swedish painter and interior designer. I think his watercolors combine perfectly art and illustration. But there was no book about him in library. After i was thinking to use music albums covers. Many bands use art works as a covers (like Sonic Youth used Gerhard Richter and Richard Prince paintings as a covers).
Finally i chose book “Masters of animation” by John Halas. I think many frames from animations could be present as a beautiful illustration. Inside this book i found short chapter about “my own” master of animation Yuri Norstein. I woudl like to present his brilliant movie “Hedgehog In The Fog”:
